At approximately 2:00 p.m. today, Monday, March 3, 2014, the Bethel Fire Department received a call from the Bethel Post Office, employees smelled gas.
The Bethel Fire Department and Volunteer Ambulance arrived on the scene.
The post office was evacuated and closed, and firefighters searched the building.
Assistant Fire Chief Scott Murphy said it could be a problem with the boiler and Yankee Gas was handling it from that point on.
