Byrd's Books Helps Feed Those in Need Through National Campaign
In partnership with Macmillan Children's Publishers, the Bethel book seller is holding a food drive to raise awareness of childhood hunger.

From Byrd’s books:
For the entire month of October, Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group is partnering with independent bookstores to host a nationwide food drive to raise awareness of childhood hunger. Inspired by “Crenshaw,” a new middle grade novel by Newbery Medalist Katherine Applegate, bookstores are teaming up with food pantries to collect items for children in need.
Byrd’s Books will collect nonperishable food items during the month of October to help children in need through the efforts of Brotherhood-In-Action.

Crenshaw Jackson and his family have fallen on hard times. There’s no more money for rent. And not much for food, either. His parents, his little sister, and their dog may have to live in their minivan. Again.
Crenshaw is a cat. He’s large, he’s outspoken, and he’s imaginary. He has come back into Jackson’s life to help him. But is an imaginary friend enough to save this family from losing everything?
Beloved author Katherine Applegate proves in unexpected ways that friends matter, whether real or imaginary.
Byrd’s Books will have containers on the store the month of October to collect non-perishable food items for children in need.
