CALL TO ACTION: Charter Revision Vote - Residents Must Request Line Item Ballot

With a vote on the Charter Revisions around the corner, it is paramount that we request the ballot reflect the items in debate.

Dear Bethel:

With a vote on the Charter Revisions around the corner, it is paramount that we request the ballot reflect the items in debate. Please take 1 minute out of your busy day to send the following email to our First Selectman:

Board of Selectman Email Addresses:  knickerbockerm@bethel-ct.gov and pdszat@sbcglobal.net

Send this letter please: (copy and paste below into an email and send)

Mr. Knickerbocker and members of the Board of Selectman and Charter Revision Commission,

Greetings,

I wanted to request, in writing, that the proposed Charter Revisions be put forth for a vote by "line item" (each proposed change) and that these line item questions be separated according to the questions, concerns, and debated sections. Specifically, those brought forth at Mondays Town Meeting:

1. Changing to a four year term
2. Changes to Board of Finance line-item control.
3. Changing to a five member Board of Selectman.

I am making this request out of concern that the entirety of the months of work carried out by the volunteer members of the Charter Revision Commission, along with many of their non-debated revisions, may become a wasted effort if all the changes are included in a single item "yes or no" vote type ballot question.

I have been informed that ONLY the Board of Selectman can make this happen.

Respectfully,
