Fund Established for Bethel Family Who Lost Their Home: UPDATE

BETHEL, CT — A GoFundMe campaign has been established for the Serfilippi family who lost their home and dog in a fire Saturday night.

A little over $3,800 was raised toward a goal of $10,000 by 3 p.m. on Monday. Donations are also being accepted, care of the Martin family at 38 Starr Lane in Bethel.

The family of three was not home at 8:15 p.m. when Bethel and Stony Hill firefighters answered a call about a fire at their Country Way house. First responders reported "heavy fire" in the rear of the house, in the attic and already through the roof.

Firefighters shuttled water to the scene of the fire via tankers, but it was not enough to save the home, which was deemed a "total loss" in the fire report.

The Bethel and state fire marshals are investigating the cause.
