Due to the impending bad weather, the luminary walk scheduled for tonight at Bethel High School has been cancelled. Please take a moment today to light a candle, say a prayer or take some action that honors the memory of those killed one year ago today.
As Mr Knickerbocker says on today's 28 days of hope blog http://28daysofhope.wordpress.com/ , there is much work that needs to be done to address the epidemic of violence in our communities and country. Just yesterday another community was devastated by yet another school shooting. I pray that our remembrance of this day will be more than ringing bells and lighting candles. I pray that we will find ways to work together to create networks of support for those who are without hope and protection for those who are vulnerable.
If we want to create a memorial to those who died one year ago today, let it be this- that no one ever dies at the hand of another ever again. Let us begin today to make that day a reality.
