Alleged Killer of Woman Pleads Not Guilty to Shooting Another

The Ohio man is also accused of shooting Emily Todd, of Bethel. in December.

BETHEL, CT — The Ohio man awaiting trial for the death of a young Bethel woman pleaded not guilty Wednesday to an earlier shooting of a woman in the city, the News Times has reported.

Brandon Roberts, 26, entered his plea in Superior Court in Bridgeport to charges of attempted murder, first-degree assault and gun charges. He has requested a jury trial, and the judge continued the case to Feb. 27.

Roberts has also been charged with murder, felony murder, first-degree robbery and carrying a pistol without a permit for the Dec. 8 killing of 25-year-old Emily Todd.

Police found Todd, a therapist at a Danbury senior center and 2011 graduate of Bethel High School, with a gunshot wound to the head lying face down in the sand along the shore on Dec.9. Police allege that Brandon Roberts lured Todd to a boat ramp in Bridgeport on Dec. 8 after she had called off their relationship following several dates.
