Music Filled the Air at the BMS Annual PREMIER CONCERT

The Bethel Middle School Music Department presented its Annual PREMIER CONCERT on Thursday, March 27, 2014.  It included music from the Concert Choir directed by Mr. Todd Gorski, the String Chamber Orchestra directed by Mr. Richard Baumer, and the Symphonic Band and Jazz Band directed by Mr. Rod Doble.

After the Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all, the Concert Choir performed and an acapella version of "The Star-Spangled Banner" by F. S. Key, arranged by Gorski.  The next selection  was "For Good"  (from "Wicked") by S. Schwartz, arranged by Huff, and last was ""Seasons of Love" (from "Rent") by J. Larson, arranged by Emerson.

The String Chamber Orchestra performed " Pirates of the Caribbean" by Hans Zimmer, arranged by Moore.  Next was Theme from "Stairway to Heaven" by J. Page and R. Plant, arranged by Phillips and featured Ashley Connors on Guitar and Soloist Cosette Domkofski on Violin I.  Last was "Kashmir" by J. Page, R. Plant and J. Bonham, arranged by McCarrick and featured Soloists *Gia Antolini, Ashley Connors and *Cosette Domkowski, all on violin, and *Hajer Shaker on Drums. (*Fairfield County String Orchestra)

The Symphonic Band performed "Prelude No. 20" by F. Chopin, arranged by Brubaker.  Next was "Main Street Celebration" by S. Reineke, and last was "Shackelford Banks" by J. Bocook.

The Jazz band performed "Sing, Sing, Sing" by L. Prima, arranged by Cook, and featured Soloist Ruben Morais on Trumpet.  Next was "Eye of the Tiger" by F. Sullivan III and J. Peterik, arranged by Lopez.  Third was "Estancia" by D. Beach, and featured Soloists Cameron Klinefelter on Trombone and Malcom Williams on Saxophone.  Fourth was "Night Train" by J. Forrest, O. Washington and L. Simpkins, arranged by Barrett.  Last was "Moves like Jagger" by Levine, Levin, Malik and Schuster, arranged by Murtha and featured Soloists Dean Havelock on Trumpet, Jessica Rosato on Trombone and Tim DeVita on Saxophone.

Thanks to Mr. Thomas Rombilus and Mr. Albert Robinson, BMS' General Music Teachers, for supplementing and enriching the performing students' music education.

Bethel is proud to receive the 2013 "Best Communities for Music Education in America designation as part of the Best Communities for Music Education Program" by the NAMM Foundation.
