Police Charge Bethel Woman in Head-On Collision
She was driving the wrong way on the Merritt Parkway.

BETHEL, CT — Police charged a Bethel woman Wednesday with driving drunk and the wrong way on the Merritt Parkway, injuring a father and son.
When state troopers arrived on the scene they found a car stopped against the center median with heavy front end damage. A van with damage to the driver's side door was nearby. The driver of the van and his 16-year-old son in the front seat were taken to St. Vincent's Hospital and treated for chest and abdominal injuries.
Police charged the driver of the car, Ali Wakeman, 25, of Bethel, with DUI, driving the wrong way, second degree assault with a motor vehicle and first degree reckless endangerment. She is being held on a $40,000 bond.

Wakeman's blood alcohol level was later found to be 0.23.
