Starry Sky Studios opens in Bethel
Come to Starry Sky Studios Saturday, March 21st, 12-2 and Sunday, March 22nd, 4-6.
Music and art studio opens in Downtown Bethel Family-friendly environment will offer lessons, art classes, yoga and more in the loft above Molten Java

Starry Sky Studios, an independently-run art and music school, has scheduled a Grand Opening celebration in the loft at Molten Java Coffee House. (213 Greenwood Avenue, Bethel, CT 06801), Saturday March 21, from 12-2:00 p.m. and Sunday March 22, from 4 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
“We are over the moon excited to introduce our art and music school to Bethel and the surrounding communities,” said Sandra Johnston, co-founder of Starry Sky Studios. “It will be a weekend of hands on art for all ages, snacks, refreshments, instructor and artist meet and greet and many musical guests”.

Some musical guest will include; Jason Bangser, performing March 21st 12:30 - 1:30.
Jason Bangser, 15 years old, picked up a guitar on his ninth birthday, and has performed ever since. Jason is one of founders of the band, Marmalade Sky, who won the prestigious Ridgefield BandJam competition 2 consecutive years. His current project, Jam Theory, performs regularly throughout NY and CT. A member of the Ridgefield HS jazz band, Jason performs around Fairfield County as a solo, duet and with a jazz trio. As a studio musician, he has provided guitar for TraxFast Recording Studios. He recently co-wrote & recorded an original song, “Counting on You, which can be found on Band Camp.
Brianne Chasanoff, who will perform on March 21st 4PM -5PM .
Brianne Chasanoff, is known for her “sultry voice, and she writes dark, melodic songs about love” – Laurel Tuohy ; Danbury News Times. Brianne Chasanoff, is classically trained vocalist and pianist who’s passionate vocals speak to the listener intimately through her sensitivity and her depth of emotional expression on both her albums Broken & Breathe.
Alex Minton, will perform on March 21st from 5PM -6PM.
Described as having an R&B sound with a ‘pop-twist’, Alex is currently studying music at Wesleyan University. His first single off of his debut record “I A.M,” “Breathe,” debuted on iTunes in January of 2014, followed in June by “Burning Down,” the second single off of the forthcoming record, slated for release in September of 2014. Hailey Knox, will perform on Sunday March 22nd from 4PM -5PM. Hailey Knox is a 16 year old singer/songwriter from Carmel NY who has performed at the Apollo Theatre and Bitter End in NYC. She is currently working with producers who are developing her as an artist. You can find videos of her on YouTube under Hailey Knox.
Other acts will include, The Bandolins and Starry Sky Studio instructor, Leara Broderson.
“Art—and the experiencing of making it—can be one of the strongest threads connecting members of a community,” said Nancy Metcalf, co-founder of Starry Sky Studios. “We are excited to share a space for education, creativity and meaningful time with you, our neighbors.”
Starry Sky Studios offers private music lessons in: stand up bass, electric bass, guitar, banjo, voice, drums, keyboard, as-well-as woodwind lessons by the amazing Jason Fitch, tenor sax player for f Mad Satta!
Visual art offerings include; Java, Wine & Paint, Cocoa and Canvas, Wine & Watercolor, Sketching Class, All About Color Theory Class, Jewelry Making, Collage Podge, Hand Lettering Design and many others. With a staff of certified music instructors and brilliant master artists, our workshops and lessons are designed for ages 6+ to Adults, and all experience levels . We offer an exciting children’s workshop that combines art and music titled “Once Upon a Song”. Our instructors are all talented working musicians and artists in the industry.
The studio offers morning “Mommy and Me Yoga” and “Adult Yoga” classes with instructor Faith Ficarra, as well as a four week course, “Filmmaking 101”, taught by Steve Colon from WXCI Radio.
“We couldn’t imagine a more perfect location for Starry Sky Studios,” Metcalf said. “Not only has Molten Java been a creative meeting ground in Bethel for years, but together our businesses make sense. Parents will be able to drop off their children for their one-hour workshop, for instance, then relax downstairs with free Wi-Fi and sip delicious Molten Java coffee. Our classes run seven days and nights a week.”
Co-founders Nancy Metcalf and Sandra Johnston are seasoned artists who had the passion and vision to create this unique opportunity for children and adults to unleash their curious and creative minds!
