It's that time of year again! Time to shake those winter blues and get ready to celebrate Fairfield County Sausagefest!
That's right, starting this weekend and running every weekend until October, area roadways, pubs and eateries will be full of brightly colored sausages, sausages, sausages!
After 3 months of hibernation, pasty middle-aged bicyclists will be stuffing themselves into last year's spandex casing and hitting the road! Look for these sausages stumbling awkwardly in too-tight clip shoes, wearing $400 sunglasses indoors, and traveling in packs of 10 or more.
"It's my favorite time of year," said plump, juicy area sausage Tim Johansen, sitting confidently splay-legged at an outdoor table at O'Neils Cafe, surrounded by a dozen assorted bratwursts and knockwursts. "Don't mind me if I just adjust... a little... down here... ah, that's better."
Organizers say they plan to add to the festivity of this year's Sausagefest Weekends by celebrating Mooseknuckle Mondays and Cameltoe Tuesdays in local brewpubs.
