Town Meeting Called to Discuss Train Canopy Restoration

The cost of the project will be around $175,000.

BETHEL, CT -- A special town meeting will be held Tuesday, June 27 to approve a plan to demolish and restore the canopy by the old train station. According to a notice from the Board of Selectmen posted on the town website, the cost of the project is not to exceed $175,490.

The state has promised to pay for $36,800 of the project, while about $37,000 in an account for the train station will cover some of the cost. The town will pay the remaining $101,000 and will be reimbursed by the brewery over the next six years, according to The News Times.

If approved, the project would take about six weeks to complete.

The town meeting will be held in Meeting Room A of town hall at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
