2 Woodbridge Firefighters Injured in JCC of Greater New Haven Blaze

The multi-alarm fire occurred Monday afternoon.

WOODBRIDGE, CT — Two Woodbridge firefighters were injured Monday afternoon while battling the multi-alarm fire at the Jewish Community Center of Greater New Haven on Amity Road, according to officials.

One of the firefighters remains hospitalized, but is expected to make a full recovery, officials wrote in a Facebook post. The other firefighter was treated in the hospital and released.

"We commend the JCC staff for evacuating the building safely and efficiently and thank the Brookdale of Woodbridge staff for sheltering those evacuated," officials wrote.

Firefighters from Prospect, Bethany, Seymour, and Orange assisted Woodbridge in battling the fire and covering the community in the interim.

The JCC is temporarily closed, but the facility will be opened for a brief time Tuesday, Dec. 6, to allow members to retrieve urgent items.
