Led by Aaron Uscilla’s co-medalist 41, Amity’s still undefeated golf team posted its third consecutive win on Friday when it defeated Southern Connecticut Conference rival, Xavier High of Middletown 172-182. The match was played at the Country Club of Woodbridge. In addition to Uscilla’s 41, Kyle Barone carded a 42, Alex Marieb 43, and Keating Seymour added a 46 for Coach George Taylor’s team.
Xavier’s Geoff Vartales, who was the New Haven area’s Most Valuable Golfer last year, was a co-medalist as he also recorded a 41.
“This was a good win for us,” Taylor said. “Our score wasn’t as good as it was the previous week,, but it was good enough for us to beat a pretty good Xavier team. Aaron Uscilla is only a sophomore. For the most part, he was a second-string freshman last year, but during the off-season, he spent a lot of time working on his game. After playing so much golf, he has really improved. It was nice to see Kyle ands Alex come in right behind Aaron.”

Taylor added, “This is a good group of kids. They are all really into golf. With my top 4-5 guys, we have a pretty balanced team that could win a lot of matches this spring. I hope things stay like this throughout the season.”
