Amity Wrestlers Place 7th at Weekend Tournament in Natick, Mass.

Najmonowicz and Kane come in third.

Led by third places finishes from Jeff Najmonowicz (171 pounds) and Jake Kane (135 pounds) the Amity wrestling team placed seventh (out of 12 teams) at Saturday’s Natick Invitational in Natick, MA.

According to Coach Gil Jennings, “This was a very tough tournament and we were the only Connecticut school. Natick has a very talented team. Cranston East and Cranston West from Rhode Island were there as were several other teams you only see at the New England Regional Championship Meet. We are very young but we wrestled well. I was very happy with how well we performed. Our veterans were ready and knew what to expect at this tournament and it was also an excellent new experience for our young kids.”

In addition to Najmonowicz and Kane, Tyler Bishop (130) and Dave Nudel (140) both came in fourth. Dan Grober (112) and Colby Schaefer (152) finished in fifth place. Brandon Capuano was sixth at 160.

Jennings added, “My kids aren’t used to throws but after this tournament, they are used to them. We ended up right where I expected we’d be—in the middle of the pack.”
