On Tuesday, February 12th, the Community Action Club at Amity High School has invited Chris Herren as a guest speaker.   We worked hard to get this speaker to come to our school because of the impact that we believe he can have on the entire Amity community.  

             Chris Herren grew up in Fall River, Massachusetts where he was a star high school basketball player. He then went on to play at Boston College and Fresno State before getting drafted to the Denver Nuggets as the 33rd overall pick in the 1999 draft. He played one season with the Nuggets before they traded him to his hometown team, The Boston Celtics. However, throughout his entire basketball career, Chris struggled with substance abuse, which affected his career and opportunities.  Chris now coaches children, in addition to giving inspirational speeches across the country in an effort to educate others about the dangers of substance abuse. He has been sober since 2008.

            Don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity to hear a remarkable story about a basketball star who turned his life around.  Chris Herren’s real-life story will help to educate Amity students and community members about the dangers of substance abuse and the impact they can have on all of our lives.

Checks can be made out to Amity High School. No donation is too small.  Members of the Community Action Club will be more than happy to pick up any donations.
