"Do you have faith in the election process...?"

a cross-generational thought

N is one of my newer pollworkers, a woman in her 20s who is back home with her parents while seeking (ever seeking!) for a real job.  She was chuckling over the fact that some of her high school classmates (one of them my own kid) would be working with her during yesterday's Primary.  "So, Dad, do you have faith in the election process being in the hands of me and C?"

Her father looked up briefly from the paper, "No" then went back to his reading.

In 1992, my mother-in-law found herself uncomfortable but amused that the next President of the USA would be closer to her children's age than her own.  "How do you feel about that, Pua?"  I said, "I think it's about time!"

Now?  It's still about time.  Either you have faith in something or you don't.  If you have faith in the election process, then it's worth passing on to your children.  I suspect N's father actually believes that, too.
