If you spend time investigating your new cell phone purchase, don't you think you should so some research when buying a new home?

Buying a piece of property? Learn all you can about it before you make an offer! THE CSI of property investigation!

It  sort of astounds me that people will spend a significant amount of time doing research online and otherwise before they buy a new cell phone, but won't invest the same amount of due diligence to investigate a new home they are interested in purchasing - which for most of us, is the largest componet of our investment portfolio!

I hear it all the time - I am too busy, I don't have time, blah, blah, blah.., you are going to spend literally hundreds of thousands of dollars purchasing a home, don't you think it makes sense to find out as much as you possibly can about it before you plunk down all that money? Today, you don't even have to leave your house, just plop yourself in front of your computer or pick up your smart phone and start typing! You can easily:

Learn who owns the house, what they paid for it* and when they bought it,

Find out what's happening in Bethwoodfor free with the latest updates from Patch.

Learn if there were any oil leaks or if there are any contaminated sites nearby,

Learn if there were any registered public health issues at the site or nearby,

Take a virtual tour down the street, into the neighborhood or into the backyard,

Take a look at the house from an aerial view or look at the GIS map,

Find out who your neighbors are,

Find out about crime in the area,

Learn about the schools, and so much more! There is so much information online, it's so easy and convenient! So don't be lazy, straighten up and fly right and collect as much information as you can! Be an informed consumer!
