Diet and Exercise are important components of healthy living. It is important you know your body and how it functions prior to beginning any diet or exercise program.

Did you ever wonder why with all the talk about nutrition and exercise, heart disease remains one of the leading causes of death in the United States. Rather than providing every detail about the causes of heart disease, let's take a look at the things that put you at risk for heart disease. Diet, smoking, exercise, obesity and alcohol abuse are risk factors we can change. Pretty simple right? Maybe in concept but, commitment and change may prove to be very difficult. Balance, moderation, and knowing what is right for you are of extreme importance. That low calorie diet and intensive workout may be great for some, but for others with high blood pressure or diabetes it can be deadly. The smoker who suffers from lung disease may not be able to exercise without risking a more serious problem and the obese child who learns what a healthy diet consists of,may not have the foods available to them to maintain a healthy diet. Relying on food labels to give you the answers about what you consume is a helpful tool, however, many provide inaccurate, misleading information. It is also important to learn healthy food combinations, portion size, how and when to snack appropriately and what type of exercises will be most effective for you.
