Connecticut Builder John Doran Announces "Volunteer Day" at Bethany Home Build Site

Connecticut builder John Doran announces "Volunteer Day" on 11/19 in building a new home in Bethany for wounded American veteran Sean Pesce

BETHANY – Wednesday, November 16, 2016 – Connecticut builder John Doran announced today that a community-wide “Volunteer Day” will be held this Saturday, November 19th at the build site of a new home being constructed for Army Veteran SPC Sean Pesce, who was wounded and left paralyzed in a firefight in Afghanistan in 2012. John Doran, an East Lyme-based home builder, is working with nationally based organization Homes For Our Troops to construct the specially adapted, mortgage-free home for SPC Pesce.

Mr. Doran is the project manager for the Bethany build, and he said that the community Volunteer Day is an opportunity for people from throughout Bethany and the region to come to the site (located at 94 Mesa Drive) and lend a hand in beautifying and landscaping the property. He said it will be a wonderful opportunity for people to come together and show support for SPC Pesce, to honor his many sacrifices and to welcome him to the community.

“It is every builder’s dream to build a home for hero like Sean – I have been building homes in Connecticut for more than 40 years, but have never been more proud than of the work we are doing with Homes For Our Troops to provide a new home and a new start on life for Sean,” Mr. Doran said. “This will be a great day on Saturday, and we would love to see as many people as possible lend a hand in ensuring everything is ready to go when Sean moves in next month.”

Mr. Doran said construction on the home began at the end of the summer and is scheduled to conclude in December, when a special formal “Key Day” will be held to present SPC Pesce with the keys to his new home and he will be able to move in.

Mr. Doran added that he is donating his homebuilding services and many of his subcontractors and suppliers are providing their services free or at reduced costs. Homes for Our Troops (HFOT) is a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to build mortgage-free, specially adapted homes for severely injured Veterans Post-9/11, to enable them to rebuild their lives.
