Paul Bloom, Professor of Psychology and Cognitive Science at Yale University will join with Josh Foer, world memory champion and New York Times bestelling author of Moonwalking with Einstein, to explore the hidden pathways of how the human mind works – and why sometimes it doesn’t. The conversation will open up for audience participation followed by book signing by the authors.
Mr. Bloom has served as co-editor in chief of the scientific journal Behavioral and Brain Sciences since 2003. He is author of numerous books including How Pleasure Works: The New Science of Why We Like What We Like, which was released in 2010. His articles have been published in the New York Times, Atlantic Monthly and Slate among others.
Mr. Foer, a freelance journalist whose primary focus is science, was the 2006 U.S.A. Memory Champion. He set a new record in the "speed cards" event by memorizing a deck of 52 cards in 1 minute and 40 seconds. Foer’s work has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Slate and he has been a frequent guest on NPR.
