The Griffin Hospital "Mini-Med School" is a free course conducted over 10 consecutive weekly sessions by various Griffin Hospital physicians

It’s back to school time throughout Connecticut as students settle back into their desks to learn the skills that can help them to a rewarding future.But all of us know that learning doesn’t stop with graduation, and that hold especially true when talking about our health. As we age, we need to learn how to take better care of our bodies or we may develop ailments that we have to understand in order to effectively manage.
Want to be (almost) a doctor?
For 12 years, Griffin Hospital has offered the community a unique opportunity to gain a greater understanding of how the human body works, insight into common disorders of the various organ systems, as well as information about disease prevention. The Griffin Hospital “Mini-Med School” is a free course conducted over 10 consecutive weekly sessions by various Griffin Hospital physicians who serve as faculty. The program is specifically designed for the layperson with little or no medical background, aiming simply to demystify the study of medicine.
Each weekly session is divided into two hour-long presentations on different medical topics, with a refreshment break between presentations and ample time for questions and answers.

Class starts Sept. 11
This year’s school starts Thursday, September 11 and classes will be held on Thursdays from 6:30 – 9 p.m. in the hospital’s Meditation and Learning Center, 130 Division Street in Derby. This course is comprehensive and the knowledge base is cumulative, so those participants who attend all sessions will gain the most benefit.
