Lady Spartan Swimmers Clear Away the Competition
Winning streak expands to 9-0 following win over Branford, 101-80.

Thanks in large part to its sweep of diving, the 100-yard butterfly and the 100 backstroke, Amity’s undefeated girls swim team upped its spotless slate to 9-0 by defeating Branford 101-80 in a Southern Connecticut Conference meet Tuesday night at the Orange Community Center pool. After eight consecutive victories, this was the first meet the Hornets dropped this fall.
Amanda Craig—212.00 points, Carly Young—179.90, and Nicole Guadagnoli—150.1 went 1-2-3 in diving. The 100 butterfly sweep featured Dana Grindall—57.73 seconds, Lindsay Morton—1:01.98, Morgan Turner—1:02.32. Included in the 100 backstroke sweep were Madeline Snow—1:04.07, Mollee Lasto—1:04.89, and Shannon Early—1:05.23.
The Lady Spartans also went 1-2 in the 200 individual medley (Shannon Early—2:19.33 and Jessica Kochiss—2:20.95) and the 200 medley relay (Early, Grindall, Lydia Pokluda, and Dana Chung—1:52.570); (Colby Champagne, Elissa Flaumenhaft, Melissa Gulia, and Emma Feldmann—1:56.04.) Grindall (50 free—24.59) and Lu (500 free—5:0.74) also won their individual races.
