Lady Spartans Outboot Law in One-Goal Game

Soccer Coach Owen Quigley: "We tear teams apart."

After 78 minutes, 30 seconds of play, the Amity girls soccer team had outshot Jonathan Law 39-1. Despite that enormous Lady Spartan edge in offensive action, the game was amazingly still scoreless. Finally, with 90 seconds left in regulation time, Amity’s Allison Maier netted her team’s fortieth shot. It proved to be the game’s only goal as the Lady Spartan booters edged Law 1-0. The Southern Connecticut Conference inter-divisional contest was played Monday night in Milford.

According to Coach Owen Quigley, “We tear teams apart. In our first three games, we’ve outshot the opposition 86-6, but have only scored three goals. We need a little luck and to find a way how to finish.”

Amity goalie Zoie Reed made six saves while Golden Eagles netminder Emily Romero recorded six stops.
