Lady Spartans Sweep Second Swim Meet of Season

Amity out-swims West Haven, 103-74.

For the second meet in a row, the Amity girls swim team splashed its way to an easy Southern Connecticut Conference victory. Last week, the Lady Spartans trounced West Haven 103-74. On Monday, they submerged Hamden 100-78 at the Orange Community Pool. Amity not only won each of the first seven events, it swept two events and claimed both first and second place in the other five races—with a different swimmer winning  each race.

The meet began with Amity sweeping the 2000-yard medley relay (Shannon Early, Katherine Holden, Dana Grindall, and Anna Lu) with "A" relay coming in first with a time of 1 minute, 56.72 seconds. Lydia Pokluda, Morgan Turner, and Amanda Rossi) added a third place 2:05.27.

Madeline Snow and Morton went 1-2 in the 200 freestyle with respective times of 2:06.46 and 2:09.83. It was the same story in the 200 individual medley as Dana Chung came in first (2:19.14) and Jessica Kochiss was right behind with her 2:21.28.  Pokluda (27.33) and Turner (28.18) dominated the 50 free.
