Local Communities Set To Receive Essential Funds
State Senator James Maroney welcomes funding in Milford and Woodbridge to support the arts community.
WOODBRIDGE, CT - State Senator James Maroney (D-Milford) is welcoming funding that will support the Arts community in Milford and Woodbridge.
As a part of a $9 million grant going towards 154 nonprofit arts organizations in Connecticut, three non-profit arts organizations in the 14th district will be receiving funding to provide support to those impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The Milford Arts Council will be receiving $24,700, Pantochino Productions in Milford will be receiving $13,000, and the Amity Teen Center in Woodbridge will be receiving $11,500.

"Thousands of people across the state have suffered financially because of the coronavirus pandemic and hopefully with this grant, artists around the state won't have to worry about recovering," said Sen. Maroney.
"Art is such an important outlet to be creative and now more then ever, people are relying on a creative way to divert their mind off of what's happening around them. I am thankful to Governor Lamont for releasing funding to those in need in the arts community."

The funding is intended to support the Connecticut arts industry amid the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Performing arts centers, schools of the arts and performing groups needing help in terms of survival or rehiring, or that have had to curtail operations due to the pandemic were eligible for these funds.
