Man Found Sleeping Near the Road, Another Attempts to Evade Police

Two arrests made in recent days.

On May 12 at 10:50 p.m., police found a man sound asleep next to a parked motorcycle at the intersection of Amity Road and Overlook Road. An officer patrol noticed a Harley Davidson motorcycle on the side of the road and Christopher Delacruz, 25, of Inwood, N.Y. sleeping on his back next to the motorcycle.

After police awakened the sleeping and seemingly intoxicated man, he initially agreed to get a cab ride and have his motorcycle towed, but then reportedly change his mind. He became beligerent and defiant with the police officer and was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct. He was released on a promise to appear and was given a court date of May 23.

Police also issued a warrant to a Woodbridge man following an April 27 incident. Last Friday, police arrested Tyler Zaniewski, 19, of Woodbridge stemming from an incident after a motor vehicle stop on April 27 at Rimmon Road and Westward Road. A police officer stopped Zaniewski on a routine traffic stop and he allegedly refused to cooperate with police.

According to police spokesman Robert Crowthers, Zaniewski would not turn off his car when asked by police and while an officer was leaning into the vehicle trying to turn it off, Zaniewski accelerated the car. He is charged with assault on an officer, interfering with an officer, reckless driving, failure to obey a stop sign, no headlights, and engaging an officer in pursuit.
