Man Burglarized Home In Broad Daylight: Woodbridge Police

The man is accused of stealing several laptop computers and jewelry from a home in Woodbridge, according to police.

WOODBRIDGE, CT — A New Haven man is accused of burglarizing a home in Woodbridge last Thursday afternoon, according to police.

Police responded to the area of Amity Road near Highland Avenue around 2:45 p.m. on the report of a suspicious man in the back yard of a home who was tampering with the house windows, according to Woodbridge Police Chief Frank Cappiello.

Another resident reported that after returning home they found that their home had been burglarized and various electronic equipment and jewelry were missing, according to Cappiello.

“While searching the neighborhood, police located and detained a suspect who matched the description of the perpetrator from the initial suspicious incident call and who was subsequently found to be in possession of several laptop computers and assorted jewelry stolen from the residence that had been burglarized,” Cappiello wrote in a news release.

Juan Perez, 53, of Quinnipiac Avenue, was arrested and charged with third-degree burglary, criminal attempt to commit third-degree burglary, possession of burglar tools and third-degree larceny. He was being held in lieu of a $50,000 bond with a court date of Aug. 26, according to state judicial records.
