Massaro Community Farm, a nonprofit organic farm operated on Town-owned property, is participating in a regional bike ride to raise money for local environmental organizations.
Rock to Rock Earth Day Ride is a fun and family friendly bike ride that coincides with Earth Day. Hundreds of cyclists raise money for their favorite environmental organization and ride from New Haven’s West Rock to East Rock.
This year’s Rock to Rock event is on Saturday, April 26.

Massaro Community Farm is asking people to support them during Rock to Rock through one (or more) of three ways:
- Join the team! You can choose to ride 8, 20, 40 or 60 miles.
- Sponsor a current rider.
- Volunteer on the day of the ride, or volunteer at the farm on April 5, Rock to Rock’s Environmental Day of Service.
Currently the farm is in the running to win at least one $500 incentive prize for having the largest team. This prize deadline for most riders is Tuesday, April 1.

Last year was Massaro’s first time participating in Rock to Rock. “We had so much fun the first time around in this community bike ride, even with a small group of riders” said the farm’s Executive Director, Caty Poole. “It’s also a great way for the neighboring area to enjoy the outdoors and assist the farm at the same time. We hope lots more folks will consider celebrating Earth Day and assisting the farm by joining our team or supporting a rider.”
“Massaro Farm is such an asset to our community,” said First Selectman Ellen Scalettar. “I know that many Woodbridge residents support the farm and will enjoy this fun fundraiser.”

Massaro Community Farm was originally farmed by the Massaro family and is currently run by a nonprofit board, executive director and resident farmer. The 57-acre organic farm offers educational programs to schools and student groups and holds community-building events. The farm’s vegetable produce serves a 175-member CSA and is sold to area restaurants and at Edgewood Park farmer’s market. Additionally, the farm donates at least 10% of its produce to local hunger relief agencies. To date, the farm has donated more than 21,000 pounds of food.
