Along with its annual vegetable and flower sale, on May 11 friends gathered to participate in the farm's first Maypole Dance. The Maypole was constructed with the help of Trevor Youngberg and Orange Fence under the watchful eye of Bill Fischer. Bill, a veteran at their construction, is also famous for calling Maypole dances in the area and provided the music for the farm's first event. In spite of a drizzly day, 40 adults and kids gathered around at noon to weave a beautiful rainbow of color around the pole. In addition to the Maypole dance, farm visitors also came to hear Farmer Steve talk about owning and caring for backyard chickens. Resident Donna Wrubel gave the first in a two-part lecture series on growing, harvesting and using herbs. And local birder, Chris Loscalzo led a birdwalk on the farm's Nature Trail.
