The family of Mrs. Gallant held a memorial Mass & celebration of life picnic in honor of the late parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption.

Woodbridge, CT - The family of Margaret Gallant requested a memorial Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption in Woodbridge on Saturday morning. The 11:00am Mass in Mrs. Gallant’s honor marked the five month anniversary of her death and was celebrated by Fr. Christopher Ford.
Members of the Our Lady of the Assumption Adult Choir sang at the memorial Mass at the invitation of Pam Pero, Mrs. Gallant’s daughter. Mrs. Pero and her sister Suzanne Gallant are members of the choir.
The music selected for the Mass opened with “Be Still and Know” The acclamation was “Alleluia, Give the Glory!” composed by the OLOA Director of Music Dr. Keith Smolinski and the offertory song was “In Remembrance of Me.” During Communion the choir sang “Ave Maria” by Cuccini. The meditation song was a piece written Dr. Smolinski entitled “God Alone” and for the closing, the choir performed “Do Not Be Afraid You are Mine.”

The first reading for the Mass, chosen by the family, was Book of Wisdom 3:1-6, 9, and the second was Paul to the Romans 6:3-4, 8-9. Both passages were read by family members, and Mrs. Gallant’s only son, Gerald Gallant, gave a brief and lovely eulogy.
And if I go while you’re still here…
Know that I live on, vibrating in a different measure
Behind a wall you cannot see through.
You will not see me,so you must have faith.
I wait for the time when we can soar together again
Both aware of each other.
Until then live your life to its fullest,
And when you need me just whisper my name in your heart
...I will be there - A poem posted with photos on the back cover of the printed program

Mrs. Pero expressed her thanks to the members of the choir who took time out of their Saturday “to sing so beautifully for my mom’s memorial Mass” and hosted a celebration of life picnic immediately after the Mass. Saturday brought beautiful weather for both the Mass and the picnic in memory of a beloved mother, grandmother and friend.
