New Haven Man Confesses to Murder [Update]

The body of the victim was found in a U-Haul parked in Woodbridge.

A New Haven found in the U-Haul with the body admitted to stabbing the victim several days ago, according to New Haven Police.

City police charged Josue Rivera, 27, with murder and tampering with evidence. The woman he was with, Marta Matejkowska, 29, was also charged with tampering with evidence.

The victim was Anthony Pesane, 31, who had been visiting Rivera. The murder took place at a multi-family home on 344 Howard Ave. in New Haven.

The Woodbridge Police Department found a body in the storage area of a rented U-Haul truck on Monday night. The identity has not been revealed.

At approximately 9 p.m. police were called to investigate the suspicious vehicle in the area of Bethmour Road and Rt. 67. The vehicle was occupied by two New Haven residents, both of whom are being questioned by detectives. No charges have been filed yet as of Tuesday morning.

The Woodbridge Police Department said that, "the incident is being handled as a suspicious and untimely death at this time."

Woodbridge is being assisted by the New Haven Police Department, the New Haven State's Attorneys office and the State Police Central District Major Crime Squad.
