Our Lady of the Assumption to Honor Sr. Dorellen Sullivan, R.S.M.

Sr. Dorellen has accepted a new position with the Sisters of Mercy: she will assume her full time duties on August 1, 2018.

Woodbridge, CT - Reverend Gene E. Gianelli, the pastor of Our Lady of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, announced at last weekend masses that on Monday, June 25, Sister Dorellen Sullivan, R.S.M. informed him that she has accepted a position with the Religious Order of Sisters of Mercy of North America as coordinator for Sisters of Mercy residing and working in the Connecticut region. She will assume her full time duties on August 1, 2018.

Sister Dorellen has been with the OLOA faith community and with Fr. Gene for over 20 plus years. "We are most grateful for her selfless service to our children, their families and the parish as Director of Religious Education, spiritual advisor of the Ladies Guild and a participant in the R.C.I.A. Process. We wish Sister well in her new position," said Fr. Gene in the parish bulletin.

The Ladies Guild will host a cook out in Sister’s honor on Sunday, July 29th after the 11:30am Mass. In next weekend’s bulletin there will be an insert for reservations to this event.

During this past week two faithful parishioners who have been involved in the Religious Education Program have agreed to be coordinators beginning on August 1. Debra Carpenter and Margaret Hamilton will capably oversee the instructional duties and Nancy Monelli, Secretary will maintain all office procedures. Fr. Gene will keep the members of the OLOA parish informed of further developments regarding the important ministry of educating the young people of the parish in the Catholic Faith.
