Twelve-Year-Old Girl Helps Animals at Local Shelter

On November 8, 2019, twelve-year-old Alana Beerli, from Bethany, participated in Empower Her’s Annual Ladies Nite Out shopping event as a vendor selling homemade catnip toys in which all proceeds benefited the Woodbridge Municipal Animal Control. Alana delivered extra catnip toys and the $30 she made selling them to the Woodbridge Municipal Animal Control and was presented a “Kind Kid to Animals” certificate for her good deeds. She also had a chance to visit the cats and give them a toy, in which they really enjoyed. As an extra bonus, Alana and her family fell in love with a cat she gave one of her toys to and adopted him!

At Ladies Nite Out, Alana joined fourteen other women/girl vendors in selling their products. This was the first year that young girl vendors participated, and besides Alana, included Olivia Schwenger selling her original photographs and Girl Scout Troop 67882 selling Girl Scout cookies.
The idea behind Empower Her’s Ladies Nite Out is to support local women entrepreneurs by providing an event for them to sell their products. The event also features a silent auction in which 100% of the proceeds benefit Empower Her’s programs and scholarship funds.

“Empower Her opened up the vendor opportunity this year to girl entrepreneurs to give them a platform to sell their products and do good deeds for others,” said Empower Her’s Executive Director. “We are proud to support these young women in their pursuits and will continue to hold open table space for them in the future.”

Empower Her thanks all of the vendors, donors, volunteers and the venue space, First Church of Christ Woodbridge, for helping them have another successful event!
