Press release from Bethany Vol Fire Department

Dedication of Bethany's new fire engine

On Saturday July 7th the Bethany Volunteer Fire Department dedicated its new Engine 83 pumper to their committee’s chair James “Googs” Gugliotti, for the hundreds of hours spend on the build of the project and seeing the build through its completion.

Bethany Fire Chief Richard Cogill states that the new Engine 83 is a custom Rosenbauer Commander pumper. The pumper has many capabilities including 1,000 gallons of tank water and it carries 2,500 ft of LDH hose. The new engine has foam capabilities and a full complement of cutters, spreaders, and rams (jaws of life) for extrications. The new custom pumper has 6 lengths of hard suction hose and is capable of flowing 2,000 gallons of water per minute with its Hale pump. The pumper is also equipped with a generator and a night scan light tower and much, much more.

Chief Richard Cogill went on to thank the Bethany Board of Selectman, the Bethany Board of Finance, and most of all would like to thank the residents of Bethany for supporting the Bethany Fire Department and Ambulance Corp. when equipment is needed.

The purchase of the new Engine 83 was to replace our 1982 Ford pumper. The Chief stated this is a big day for our department, we take care of our engines and tankers to make them last 20 to 30 years when possible. “It’s not every year, nor every decade, that we receive a new engine,”. The Chief's of the department and it's officers and members are excited and extremely thankful to have their new engine and look forward to the new engine providing decades of service to the residents of Bethany.
