Referendum Held on Proposed $1.625 Million Bethany Emergency Radio System Upgrade

The polling site for the referendum was the Old Voting Room on the ground floor at Bethany Town Hall.

BETHANY, CT — Registered Bethany voters are being asked to cast ballots today, Dec. 6, in a referendum on a $1,625,000 upgrade to the town's emergency radio communications system.

Polls opened at 6 a.m. in the Old Voting Room on the ground floor at Town Hall, and will close at 8 p.m.

The referendum question is as follows:

“SHALL THE TOWN OF BETHANY APPROPRIATE $1,625,000 FOR COSTS RELATED TO THE PUBLIC SAFETY RADIO COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM FOR THE BETHANY VOLUNTEER FIRE ASSOCIATION AND THE BETHANY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS, AND AUTHORIZE THE ISSUANCE OF BONDS AND NOTES IN THE SAME AMOUNT TO FINANCE THE APPROPRIATION?”

Voters approving the resolution should vote “Yes,” and those opposing the resolution should vote “No,” according to officials.
