Our Lady of the Assumption Social Action Committe Announces New Project

There are two organizations which support homeless people in our area – LIFE HAVEN, which is a shelter in New Haven for women and children, and the Brian O’Connell Homeless Project in Waterbury, which was began two years ago by a woman (Donna Finneran) in memory of her brother. Donna passes out “Brian Bags” from the trunk of her car to homeless people in the streets of Waterbury. She states, “I do this out of my heart, to change one person a day to look at a homeless person in a different way… knowing that it could be someone’s brother, sister or family member out there.”

Both organizations distribute necessary, everyday items to homeless people.

We are looking to collect the following items which are sorely needed. We will have baskets and bins set up in the vestibule of church on the weekends of June 1st and 2nd, June 8th and 9th and June 15th and 16th.
