Chalk up two more victories last week for Amity’s still undefeated girls swim team. With wins over Glastonbury (99-79) and Hand (98-79) the Lady Spartans improved their spotless record to 8-0.
Glastonbury was coming off its huge win over Cheshire that snapped the Rams 25 year-281 dual meet winning streak but was simply no match for the Black and Gold. Led by Anna Lu, who posted twin wins—200 yard freestyle (1 minute, 59.72 seconds) and the 500 free (5:22.92) and Dana Grindall, who was victorious in both the 50 free (24.66) and the 100 free (53.19) the Lady Spartans won every race until they build up a big lead and went exhibition (non-scoring status) in the meet’s final 3 races.
In addition to Lu and Grindall, Amity’s other winners were: Dana Chung (200 individual medley—2:18.17), Amanda Craig (diving—191.05), Lindsay Morton (100 butterfly—1:01.95), the 200 medley relay (Shannon Early, Lydia Pokluda, Grindall, and Chung—1:53.83), and the 200 free relay (Grindall, Chung, Jessica Kochiss, and Lu—1:44.73).

The loss drops the Tomahawks’ record to 4-2.
It was much the same story later in the week as Amity cruised past Hand. Once again Lu claimed the 200 free (2:00.35) and the 500 free (5:21.03). Early (200 IM—2:19.64), Rachel Holden (50 free—27.37), Grindall (100 butterfly—57.95), Madeline Snow (100 free—57.27), 200 medley relay (Early, Grindall, Pokluda, and Chung—1:56.92), and the 200 free relay (Grindall, Kochiss, Snow, and Lu—1:46.61).

For the first time this year, the Lady Spartans did not claim the diving competition. That honor went to the Tigers’ Renata Diotalevi, who rang up 201.15 points.
