Woodbridge First Selectman Ellen Scalettar Will Not Seek Re-Election: Report

The Democrat will not seek a third a term.

WOODBRIDGE, CT — Two-term Democratic First Selectman Ellen Scalettar will not seek a third term as Woodbridge's top official in order to spend more time with her family in New York and California, reports the New Haven Register.

She tells the publication that she is grateful to have held the position, but that running for re-election would be too time consuming. She has grandchildren in California she wants to see and older parents who live in New York.

Scalettar won the seat four years ago in a special election following the passing of First Selectman Ed Sheehy. The town's current Deputy First Selectman Beth Heller, a Democrat, is running to replace Scalettar.
