WOODBRIDGE, CT — The Woodbridge Senior Cafe was buzzing with enthusiasm on Tuesday night after a room full of more than 200 people came out for the Republican Caucus and nominated Tony Anastasio to be their candidate for First Selectman.

Republican Board of Selectmen member Joe Dey received the party’s nod to run for a third term. Woodbridge Republicans also nominated two new faces to run for the Board of Selectmen. Spencer Rubin, who currently serves as an Alternate on the Zoning Board of Appeals and is the youngest elected official in Woodbridge, and a political newcomer, David Lober, a retired anesthesiologist. Lober practiced at Yale New-Haven Hospital for eight years, before going into a private practice at Temple Surgical Center.

“I have worked closely with Tony Anastasio for the past four years so I know his passion for Woodbridge, and how tirelessly he works to make a difference,” said Joe Dey. He has a new vision for the future of Woodbridge and we have a slate of candidates willing to work in a bipartisan way to move Woodbridge from a business as usual, short sighted approach to a new, more effective long term strategic approach to the management of town business.”

“I am excited to be given the opportunity to run for Board of Selectmen,” said Spencer Rubin. “Woodbridge has become unsustainable and unpredictable under the direction and leadership of the current administration. We need to get back to being a town that can work together no matter a person’s party affiliation. I am proud to be part of a strong team that is committed to accomplishing this, and is ready to get Woodbridge firing on all cylinders.”

“It is a tremendous honor for me to have been selected as a nominee for the Board of Selectmen. I want to thank the members of the caucus who supported me, and especially Tony Anastasio, who encouraged me to run after I had indicated my interest,” said David Lober. “I will campaign with enthusiasm and, if elected, work diligently in the best interest of the town. Woodbridge is a great place to live and raise a family.I look forward to meeting my fellow townspeople , listening to your concerns ,and hopefully, earning your trust.”

The Caucus also nominated Steve Fleischman, Paul Testa, and Jeff Hughes for Woodbridge Board of Education; Chris Dickerson for Zoning Board of Appeals; Robert Wiznia for Zoning Board of Appeals Alternate; and Robert Rosasco and Hal Smullen for Amity Regional Board of Education.

Republican First Selectman candidate Tony Anastasio officially announced that he recently launched a website, tonyforwoodbridge.com and a Facebook page, facebook.com/TonyA2017. The website and Facebook page will be updated regularly with information about the campaign.
