• Community Dining Room's 'Kindness Campaign' Underway In Memory Of Volunteer Anthony Esposito (patch.com) — Branford’s Community Dining Room is running a month-long Kindness Campaign in memory of 12-year-old volunteer Anthony Esposito, supporting its nine-week Summer Meal Program. Residents can donate through June 11 and share messages on Kindness Boards at Branford and East Haven meal sites, helping provide food, connection, and enrichment for local children, families, and individuals.

• Aleta Mitchell, Actress in ‘Ma Rainey's Black Bottom' and ‘The Serpent and the Rainbow,' Dies at 74 (hollywoodreporter.com) — A well-known stage and screen actress, Aleta Mitchell, spent her final days in hospice care in Branford, connecting this Hollywood career to a quiet Connecticut town. Mitchell, 74, was celebrated for roles in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and films by major directors, and her family plans a celebration of life this summer, encouraging donations to a University of Iowa fund in her name.
