Branford CT Based Company Expands Throughout New England

Painted by the Shore (PBTS) is excited to announce further expansion of their locally known Paint & Sip events from our Connecticut community to the rest of New England.

What originated as a one woman show, run out of Branford CT, is fast turning into New England’s goto non-canvas Paint & Sip event company, with a team of 13 holding events in 4 states plus nearly 50 vineyards, wineries & breweries now collaborating to host PBTS workshops. To date over 25,000 guests have attended an event, and thousands more have crafted with the company through PBTS’s brand of home craft kits, DIY in a BOX, or by taking a virtual class.

But, PBTS didn’t start out as an art workshop company, instead it began as a way for its Founder, Kristina Lough, to create and sell artwork as a creative outlet from her full time job in corporate accounting. “I’ve always loved to paint, & that transitioned into selling my pieces on a larger scale plus forming Painted by the Shore in 2013. Then in 2017 I collaborated with Stonington Vineyards to host a Paint & Sip as a way to build awareness of my pieces sold in their shop, as well as of myself as a local artist. Little did I know I’d fall in love with the concept of teaching & the artistic connection that comes with it. Our events are a blast, I never leave those I instruct without smiling on the way home.”

So what does the future hold for Painted by the Shore? “Over the next 5 years we’ll be working to bring our event experience from Maine to Florida, and we’re excited to meet so many new people along the way- be they customers, venue partners or team members. The idea of bringing PBTS gatherings further north & south of CT is exhilarating. I can’t wait to continue this creative business journey and see where it leads.”

And it’s not just exciting for PBTS, local venues & guests are starting to request their non-canvas “usable art” workshops from around the country. “We have an appreciation for canvas artwork, but when it comes to our gatherings we focus on materials people are more excited to bring into their homes. Lanterns, wood, serving trays & planters to name a few. Back when I painted & sold my own pieces, Usable Art for Everyday Life was my motto, & that still rings true with PBTS today- just with the added twist of creating that with our guests!”
