Branford Historical Society Launches "In Your Voice" Narrative Project to Preserve Community Stories

The Branford Historical Society is launching The Branford Narrative Project: In Your Voice, an oral history initiative designed to preserve and celebrate the living history of the community by collecting personal stories, memories, and experiences from residents, past and present.

As the nation commemorates America's 250th anniversary in 2026, this project takes on special significance, contributing Branford's unique voice to the national conversation about American history.

Throughout 2026, a team of trained volunteers will collect stories from diverse community members representing different neighborhoods, generations, and backgrounds. Whether residents have lived in Branford for five years or fifty-five years, their experiences are part of the town's history.

The Historical Society is seeking volunteers for various roles, including Story Ambassadors to conduct interviews, researchers, community outreach coordinators, video and audio technicians, social media specialists, and archivists. All volunteers will receive full training and support.

Community members can participate by sharing their stories through in-person interviews, written submissions, or recordings. Collected stories will be woven into a narrative and presented to the community. Oral and written histories will be preserved in a digital archive on the Branford Historical Society website and Blackstone Library archives.
