Fixed Camper Burns in Overnight Fire
No one is injured and Branford Fire Department extinguishes blaze in 10 minutes.
A 216-square-foot fixed Nomad Skyline camper at 143 North Ivy St., #5 was completely demolished in an overnight blaze according to Branford Assistant Chief Shaun Heffernan.
Just minutes after midnight, the resident of a neighboring trailer in the Highland Bluff mobile home complex, called 911 reporting a blaze from an unoccupied camper.
When firefighters arrived, Heffernan reported one half of the camper was fully engulfed and flames were shooting through the roof.

Using one hose line, Heffernan said the fire was extinguished in less than 10 minutes. No one was injured and the camper was, in fact, unoccupied.
There are 10 mobile homes in the complex within close proximity to each other, reported Heffernan. While no other homes were affected by the blaze, Heffernan reported that the alert neighbor, who reported the fire, was also spraying his own home with a garden hose to ensure the fire would not spread.

Heffernan, who is also the town Fire Marshal, said he will be investigating the cause of the fire and has no conclusions yet about its start. The camper, he said, is owned by the trailer park, Highland Association LLC and recently had some renovations. Town records show that the camper was sold to the trailer park on January 20 from a private owner for $2,250.
