Lanza and Montemerlo top finishers at Branford Road Race

Hartford’s Ben Lanza and Nancy Montemerlo won today’s 5-Mile State Championship at the Branford Road Race. Nearly 2,000 runners and walkers participated in today’s events on the Branford Green. The Branford Road Race consists of a 5-Mile Road Race, 2 Mile Fitness Walk and 1 Mile Family Fun Run.

Lanza pulled away in the last mile to win in 25:08. West Hartford’s Timothy Karsinov followed closely in 25:13. Montemerlo won comfortably in 29:43 and chased by Hawinton’s Anna Shields who finished in 30:07.

Branford’s Jacob Van Del Pol won the 1-Mile Family Fun Run in 5:57. Branford’s Cristiano Suppa followed in 6:02. Saige Fries was the first girl finishing in 7:01.
