Man Accused of Killing Branford Doctor Rejects Plea Offer
The man rejected the deal saying he intends to prove his innocence.

Dr. Lishan Wang rejected an offer to plead guilty to a reduced charge of first-degree manslaughter with a firearm and receive a 40-year prison sentence, the New Haven Register reports.
Wang, 48, shot Dr. Vajinder Toor, 34, outside his home in April 2010 and attempted to shoot his wife, who was pregnant at the time.
Wang, rejected the deal offered the prosecutor Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Gene Calistro Jr. on Tuesday, the paper reports. Superior Court Judge Patrick J. Clifford told Wang before he rejected the deal that he could face up to 60 years for murder with an additional 20 years for attempted murder an even more prison time if he is convicted on weapons charges.

According to the paper, Wang was then brought in front of Superior Court Judge Thomas V. O’Keefe Jr.,who will preside over Wang’s trial. Wang, who is representing himself had a list of absurd pre-trial motions that were all dismissed by O’Keefe.
O’Keefe set a 45-day limit asking Wang to decide whether to pursue a defense of mental disease or defect or extreme emotional disturbance, the paper reports.
