Obituary: Gretchen “Dutchie” Bussmann, 92, of Branford

Gretchen “Dutchie” Bussmann of Branford died Monday May 8, 2023 at The Ark at Branford Hills. She was the wife of the late Robert J. Bussmann. Mrs. Bussmann was born July 12, 1930 in Atlanta, GA, daughter of the late Augustus “Gus” and Gretchen Estes Ware.

She is survived by her son Robert A. (Christina) Bussmann of Branford and her sister Linda Hodil of Baltimore, MD. She was predeceased by her brother William Ware and her sister Janet Kadelic.

She had formerly worked in the Behavioral Research Department at Yale University.

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Friday morning from 10:00 – 11:00, with a service at 11:00 in the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven.
