Obituary: John William Carlson, 77, of Branford

John William Carlson of Branford died unexpectedly at Yale New Haven Hospital on Tuesday March 21, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Deborah (Schneider) Carlson of 57 years.

John was born in New Haven March 30, 1945, a son of the late Carl and Doris (Estrom) Carlson. He worked as an explosive engineer for R.M. Hosley & Son of Branford and J & J Blasting of Madison for many years until his retirement. He was also a member of the Laborers Union Local 455. He loved being outdoors, enjoyed boating, fishing and hunting with family and friends, and spending time with his grandchildren attending their many sporting events.

Besides his wife he is survived by his sons, John K. (Linda) Carlson of Panama City, FL and Christopher C. (Lori Ann) Carlson of Branford, and his grandchildren, Cameron and Brooke Carlson. He is also survived by his brother-n-law Jack Schneider of Westbrook and Keith Schneider of Liberty, ME.

A memorial service/celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, his family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Wounded Warriors Project in his name.
