• 'Wonderful, Whimsical Annual Tradition:' Celebrating 15 Years of Scarecrows on the Green (patch.com) — Branford residents are invited to celebrate 15 years of Scarecrows on the Green as the Branford Garden Club expands its popular autumn display further through downtown. Running October 16 to November 3, the event features creative scarecrows, a new Montowese Street stroll, a QR-code passport contest, and special displays at local landmarks, all aimed at supporting Branford's revitalizing town center.
   

• State Reports Expansion of West Nile Virus (ct.gov) — Branford is among 22 Connecticut towns where mosquitoes have tested positive for West Nile virus this season, though no human cases have been reported yet. State scientists warn risk will rise through September and urge residents to use EPA-registered repellents, wear protective clothing, and limit time outdoors at dusk and dawn to reduce mosquito bites.
