Bags That Give Back: Branford Historical Society Selected to Benefit in Big Y’s Reusable Bag Program in “Preserving History, Preserving the Environment” Campaign
(Branford, CT) – Reduce single-use plastic in the environment and give back to your local community non-profit, all while running routine weekly errands at the local Branford Big Y. The Branford Historical Society’s “Preserving History, Preserving the Environment” program has been selected by local Big Y store leadership as the benefiting non-profit for the month of September!

The program is an easy way for shoppers to give back to the local community and the environment as part of their regular shopping routine. With every $2.50 reusable bag purchased in Branford’s store, Big Y will send a $1 donation to the Branford Historical Society.
As part of this ongoing program, every month at each Big Y location a different local non-profit is selected to benefit from the sale of the reusable.

“We are proud that Branford was an early adopter in recognizing the impact that plastic bags have on the long-term health of the planet," said Matt Radulski, President of the Branford Historical Society. “Our ‘Preserving History, Preserving the Environment’ campaign offers our neighbors a chance to support the Branford Historical Society while simultaneously protecting the environment. The mission of the Branford Historical Society is one committed to safeguarding our assets for future generations to enjoy, and we believe our environmental assets are equally important. This program offers Branford residents a mutually beneficial solution to multiple issues of the world today. The Branford Historical Society is a non-profit based in Branford, CT. The mission of the Branford Historical Society is to discover and preserve the history of Branford, Connecticut by the acquisition and preservation of artifacts, documents, and records of Branford provenance, and to actively promote Branford’s history to the community.
