State Rep. Scanlon Appointed House Chairman of Insurance and Real Estate Committee
Connecticut State Representative Sean Scanlon represents Branford.
From the Connecticut General Assembly: Rep. Sean Scanlon (D-Guilford) was appointed House Chairman of the General Assembly's Insurance and Real Estate Committee by Speaker of the House Joe Aresimowicz for the 2017-2019 term. The committee is responsible for all matters relating to insurance law and real estate law.
"I am deeply grateful to Speaker Aresimowicz for entrusting me with the responsibility of leading the Insurance and Real Estate Committee for the next two years. Connecticut is proud to be the 'Insurance Capital of the World' and I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to strengthen this vital industry while also ensuring that Connecticut's consumers are getting a fair deal in the face of rising premiums and uncertainty surrounding the future of the Affordable Care Act," said Scanlon.
Speaker Aresimowicz offered praise for Scanlon in announcing his committee chairmanships.

“Only in his second term, Representative Scanlon has quickly earned a reputation for being a hard worker with an ability to take complex issues and develop quality public policy, as he did with the opioid issue. I have confidence Sean will continue with this work ethic as chair of the Insurance and Real Estate Committee, and I look forward to working with him in his new leadership role," said Speaker Aresimowicz.
In addition to serving as Chairman of the Insurance and Real Estate committee, Scanlon will continue to serve on the Public Health and Transportation committees as he did in his first term.
